Insuladd® E-Coat comes with a full 10 year warranty.
Preparing your metal roof for restoration
- Pressure clean roof to achieve a clean, oil and dust free surface.
- Tighten all roof panel fasteners as needed. (A ratchet and socket or socket drive on an electric drill is perfect for this if they are screw type fasteners)
- Replace or add fasteners where needed. (Insuladd drill point screws are designed for this)
- Apply rust inhibitor to rusted areas. (Insuladd Zinc Chromate rust primer)
- Spot apply a heavy coat of Insuladd E-Coat insulating elastomeric roof coating over the heads of all metal roof panel fasteners.
- Tape the bases of all roof vents and any leaky roof panel seams with Insuladd Fibertech reinforcement fabric imbedded in a heavy coating of Insuladd E-Coat. Apply a second coat of Insuladd E-Coat insulating elastomeric roof coating over the fabric patch area. Latex caulk may also be useful in sealing some areas.
- Repair small holes with Insuladd Fibertech reinforcement fabric imbedded in a heavy coating of Insuladd E-Coat. Apply a second coat of Insuladd E-Coat insulating elastomeric roof coating over the fabric patch area.
- Repair larger holes with sheet metal patches secured to the roof with Insuladd drill point screws .(Sheet metal is available from local sheet metal suppliers and roofing supply houses)
- Apply the first coat of Insuladd E-Coat elastomeric roof coating to the roof surface with brush, roller, or sprayer at the recommended coverage rate of 125 sq ft per gallon. (You can rent a sprayer from your local tool and equipment rental store. Be sure to remove the small filter in the spray gun prior to the application of Insuladd E-Coat since it will try and filter out all of the Insuladd ceramic microspheres from the paint !)
- Apply the second coat of Insuladd E-Coat elastomeric roof coating to the roof surface at the recommended coverage rate of 125 sq ft per gallon. (The first coat of Insuladd E-Coat should have a minimum of 8 hours drying time prior to the application of the second coat.
